Bandai Namco has canceled five games in development

Bandai Namco has confirmed that it has abandoned development on several projects following a planned restructuring.
An executive at Bandai Namco confirmed at a recent financial meeting that the production division has canceled construction on five projects in development following a planned restructuring. The executive explained that Bandai Namco has decided to change its policy for evaluating and approving future projects after facing a loss in fiscal 2024.
"We have decided to change our current practices and internal rules regarding the evaluation of in-production products," Namco's Bandai CEO explained. In addition, we will stop the development of at least five projects, which will be unprofitable. We changed the structure of the game development department from the second half of the previous fiscal year and set stricter criteria for the continuation of game development, the number of projects in development and the recording of production costs. Along with reducing the number of projects, we are trying to develop our portfolio of games based on categories that can be used for our products in different categories, including games with a strategic impact on the global market or more casual products."
Bandai Namco has not released any details on the five canceled games. In its recent financial meeting, this publisher confirmed an 8.9% drop in annual sales and a 96.5% drop in revenue. However, Bandai Namco is satisfied with the release of the fighting game Tekken 8, and the release of this game has brought them a lot of success.
