Techland released a sequel to Dying Light in February 2022, but the release of Dying Light 2 did not have the same results. The second version of the game had many problems at the time of release, but Techland did not stop trying to improve and release new content for it.
Tyman Smektala, the director of Techland's game series, spoke in an interview about the number of players of the first version of Dying Light compared to the second version. In this interview, it was announced that over time, Dying Light 1 on Steam has attracted the attention of more players than the second version. Of course, this issue changed with the release of Dying Light 2: Stay Human Reloaded Edition, but before the release of the mentioned version, the number of players of the first version of the game was more than the number of players of the second version. Smektala stated in this regard:
"Dying Light 1 is a great game now available for a low price along with 8 years worth of content. It is very hard to beat such a work, but we are very satisfied with the support of both games anyway; Because they have different goals. The first version is a good starting point to enter the world of Dying Light and after that we still see the sequel experience by the players. A work that is ultimately our best and most valuable offering."
He made it clear that Techland is aware of the Dying Light sequel's poor performance compared to the first version, but they will continue to work on the second version to improve the overall situation and fan requests. The company still has a lot of content to add to Dying Light 2.
