Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2 are rebooted
After the possible separation of Gearbox Studio from Embriser Group, changes have been made in the two projects Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2.
New rumors indicated that the Gearbox studio, the creator of the Borderlands series, will separate from the Embracer Group, and this separation will be announced this month. But with this happening, what will happen to the future projects of the gearbox?
Two knowledgeable sources have told Kotaku Media that the two games Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2 have faced changes in the development process. The developer gave up on new blockbuster projects to focus on Borderlands and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. The new Borderlands management team has changed and their current goal is to complete the project.
According to the LinkedIn page of former Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2 technical director Rendell R. , the game has undergone a soft reboot (a soft reboot means changes to the game, but not quite a full reboot). Despite the decent progress of both games, the adjustments in the gearbox, along with the suspension of hiring new employees and the lack of salary increases, have caused doubts. An anonymous developer said that because of this, they lost high-end people.
We haven't seen an official announcement of either Borderlands 4 or Tiny Tina's Wonderlands 2, but Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said in September 2022 that new versions of Tiny Tina's Wonderlands are in the works. He also talked about Borderlands last month and said that this project is the best thing they have made so far.
